About the project
NIMBS Quiz 2083 is a national-level intermedical basic science quiz initiative designed to promote integrated medical learning, clinical correlation, critical thinking, and healthy academic competition among MBBS students. The quiz focuses on the core basic medical science subjects—Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, and Community Medicine—and aims to create a sustainable academic platform for medical students across Nepal.
The first edition of NIMBS Quiz 2083 was successfully conducted by the Quiz Organizing Committee of National Medical College. The project involved extensive planning and preparation, including proposal development, formation of committees, question collection and standardization, sponsorship coordination, registration management, publicity, technical preparation, venue arrangement, hospitality planning, and final execution of the event. A total of 17 teams from 11 medical colleges participated in the event, which was conducted at NMC Auditorium and Lecture Theatres on 2083/01/19. The quiz was carried out in multiple phases, including the Selection Round, Semi-Final Rounds, Wildcard Entry Round, and Final Round.
The quiz format included multiple academic and competitive rounds designed to assess factual knowledge, conceptual understanding, visual interpretation, clinical application, teamwork, and rapid decision-making. The Final Round included General Round, Anagram Round, Visual Identification Round, Integrated Basic Science Round, Gambling Round, Buzzer Round, Rapid Fire Round, and Recent Advancement Round.
The event was completed with active participation from students, faculty members, organizers, volunteers, college officials, sponsors, media partners, and audience members. It also included live score projection, audiovisual support, buzzer-based tie-breakers, official photography, and live broadcast coverage.
Despite challenges related to question preparation, delayed submissions, financial limitations, last-minute printing, volunteer coordination, and logistical uncertainties, the organizing committee successfully completed the project through teamwork, adaptability, institutional support, and continuous coordination.
The competition concluded with the declaration of winners, prize distribution, certificate distribution, appreciation to sponsors and organizing members, and a formal closing ceremony. Overall, NIMBS Quiz 2083 achieved its intended objectives and established a strong foundation for future editions of the quiz, contributing to academic culture, intercollege collaboration, and student-led institutional development.
